Bryan's main objective
is to create the finest portrait possible for you and your family; one that is sure to be treasured by everyone.
Careful planning is very important
in Bryan's process to create the total expression of your character and personality. Extra care and time are spent determining clothing and make-up, even down to details such as an appropriate time and location. This additional effort is what makes a Portrait by Bryan so special.
Bryan Rockett is among this region's most talented portraiture photographers
with over 30 years experience. His dedication and enthusiasm, combined with a careful blend of psychology, art, and photographic technique give his work that special style and look that is only recognizable in a Portrait by Bryan.
Remember the objective of your portrait
this is a beautiful, sensitive portrayal of the relationship and personality of each person in the portrait. For this reason, keep the clothing and accessories very subtle. Be careful not to dress anyone in an outfit that is not an expression of their personality, or one they do not want to wear. What you want to avoid is having any one person "jump" out of the portrait because he or she is dressed in a lighter or brighter outfit than anyone else. Work for balance, harmony and color coordination.
One of the keys to the success and beauty of Bryan's work
is his ability to help you feel at ease during the photographic session - so don't worry about anything - all of you will have a great time!
If there is anyone in your family who is particularly worried about photographs
or has a particular problem, be sure to let Bryan know (in private) at the pre-portrait conference. There are countless techniques and special methods which we can use to minimize these problems; so be sure to bring up anything you wish to discuss. The secret to success here is communication. We are here to help you and our only objective is to create an outstanding portrait which you will treasure forever!
Clothing
Our aim is to produce a timeless, beautiful portrait of YOU, and the best way to begin is to remember one word...SIMPLICITY. Your clothes should be plain and simple, not loud and busy. It is more appropriate to wear sleeves.
Glasses
If you wear glasses, be sure to have your optician supply you with empty rims for the day of your appointment, as not only do glasses catch light reflections, but they also can distort the face-line in some portraits because of the lenses. Contact lenses are no problem.
Women
Make-up: Eye shadow should be applied lightly and with care. The center point of interest is the eyes. Apply two coats of mascara on both upper and lower lashes. Wear your other make-up as usual. Bring all your make-up with you for minor modifications.
Men
Be sure to shave just prior to your appointment as there is no way to hide a "five o'clock shadow" in color photography.
Children
When you discuss the upcoming photographic session with your children, do not instruct them to "smile", or "do exactly as Bryan says", etc. Simply let them know how excited you are about the photography, and leave everything else to Bryan!
The Children's Portrait Club is available as an economical way to build a treasure of portraits
that will show every important stage in your child's life. Since the prices are about 40% less then our regular prices, you don't have to sacrifice quality to accomplish your goal. Special packages offer even greater savings, especially when you also have grandparents and other loved ones to consider.
From ages six months to two years
you should schedule a session every three to four months. From ages two to five, you should plan a session at least twice a year. (Two sessions a year are required to maintain your enrollment.)
The creation fee is prepaid to reserve your appointment.
It is separate from the purchase price of your finished portraits and assures you of the time and personal attention required to produce your unique portrait. Studio or indoor sessions are available at no additional charge, and indoor sessions at home require an additional charge of $50.
Mother and baby/child sessions are available at no additional creation fee
however, portraits purchased from this session are billed at 20% off our regular portrait price schedule. (Not the Club price list.) There is a minimum order of one eight by ten or equivalent from this session.
Special Children's Club Albums
are available along with the album pages and mats which may be purchased as needed to expand your album.
To aid in your selections
the photographs you will see will be presented via our DIGITAL PROJECTION SYSTEM. Because of the many styles and prices of our portraits, we will assist you with your selections. In this fashion, we are able to project your portraits to all of the available sizes. This is an important investment for you and we want your decisions to be the correct ones. There is no additional charge for this personal service. If you have a question about this, please ask us prior to your portrait session so there are no misunderstandings at a later date!
What a thrill it is to see your portraits projected!
Be sure to bring everyone who is involved in making the decisions! We will schedule your projection appointment during regular business hours.
Creation Fees are prepaid to reserve the time required to plan and create your portraits.
The Creation Fee is separate from the purchase price of your finished portraits, and assures you of the time and personal attention required to produce your unique portrait.

The Regency
Our Regency color is a truly handsome finish. It has proven to be our clients' favorite choice for their wall portraits. Each Regency portrait is carefully custom printed, enhanced by our artists, bonded to a fine canvas, and mounted on masonite. Finally, the portrait is protected with a clear lacquer, which makes the colors come to life. The depth and dimension exhibited in the Regency is truly remarkable.
The Embassy
Although not as dimensional as the Regency, the Embassy exhibits remarkable depth and richness of colors. It is fully retouched, printed and mounted on a gold-beveled, black-beveled or triple-weight artboard. To add depth, an enhancing texture is applied to the surface...either by a special lustre lacquer or an embossed texture.
The Regal
When the primary consideration is price, the Regal finish is a very satisfactory choice. It lacks the dimension and special enhancing found in the other finishes, but it includes light retouching and a protective lacquer spray. Portraits 11x14 and larger are mounted on artboard.
